Jackie Robinson transcended the color barrier in Major League Baseball and became a hero for mankind. He was a symbol for civil rights and helped pave the way for other ball players. A true inspiration to us all. An example of bravery and courage. Baseball was simply a vehicle for Jackie Robinson to bring light to the problems of racism at a time when racism was high.
Jackie Robinson became the first African American to play in the big leagues in 1947. He was a leaderand knew the hardships that would follow. He showed extreme courage and it took a man's size by Jackie for all the problems that follow treatment. He was so important to citizens' rights and helped to follow the path for others. In addition, a market leader, whose number 42 will never be worn again in a major league park.
After Jackie Robinson debut with the Brookly Dodgers in 1947, one of the largest civil rights were moments in our history. It was made possible by BranchRickey, that the club served as president and general manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers. It was wonderful that Jackie his chance in Major League Baseball has to play, and it was a tragedy that the fiber of America during this time was so full of racism.
There is a man of Jackie's temperament and the courage to help change the ugly face of racism in America made. Mr. Robinson was a man of a fiery temperament, was asked to remain quiet during the first two years and handle thePressure. I do not think anyone else could have handled the pressure. And because he was standing up courage and bravery and the willingness to have reduced barriers and continue to do so.
It is for these reasons that Jackie Robinson should be so honored. His jersey number will never be worn again. He is an example for others to follow, and in his words, he declared: "I'm not with your wishes or dislike me ... all I ask concerned that they respect me as a personwill. "
